As a distance student, you will check out books through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), using our ILLiad system.
- Sign up for an ILLiad account here. For how to fill in the Status, Preferred loan delivery method, and Address fields, refer to the screen shot below.
- The loan period is 7 weeks plus 2 weeks for shipping. Books from other libraries will be subject to the lending library's loan periods.
- Pepperdine Libraries does not currently check out audiovisual materials to distance students. Please rely on your local library for those items.
- Pepperdine Libraries does not limit the number of items you can check out.
Locate books first in our catalog. Here are some screen shots to help you find the best books.
The call number and availability of the item will not be important for distance learners in the same way as for on-site students.
As a distance student, you will need to use the ILL system to place a request for the book. In order to take advantage of the auto-fill ILL request form that is built in to the functionality of the catalog, always be sure to select a non-Pepperdine catalog record for the book you'd like to request. Important: if Pepperdine owns a copy of the book, you will need to click on View all Editions and Formats and Pick a WorldCat Record to request the book on ILLiad, our Interlibrary Loan request system. Once you have located a WorldCat copy of the book, open that record by clicking on the title. Now you can click on the Request Item Button in the "WorldCat" Section of "Find a Copy in the Library"
